Although Qahwah house doesn't look like it from the outside, this coffee shop has much more seating inside than you'd think! The large floor to ceiling windows provide lots of light on both the main bar floor as well as the upstairs seating area.

The frequent use of cardamon in their coffee provides a rich flavor profile and some extra kick in just their regular black coffee and espresso. I'd recommend that if you want a flavored drink, to ask for it half sweet!

Hillside used to be a schoolhouse, city hall, and a photography studio before it became Hillside Coffee House in 2020. The environment feels incredibly comforting, you can sit by the fire in couches or in cushy chairs. More than anything, Hillside really feels like a home.

Hillside serves Anodyne Coffee, which is a Milwaukee classic. Anodyne has a very particular taste, something that is very acidic and more harsh than smooth. Avenue Coffeehouse, like Hillside, has a very comforting feel to it. The coffee shop is set up like an actual house, where the seating area might be considered where the living or dining room is in a house. Everything is very cozy, and a home-like feel to it, perfect for catching up with friends. Also, there's two entrances- pictured in the images above!

Avenue Coffeehouse is very similar to Hillside in almost every aspect. One way that they are similar is that they both serve Anodyne Coffee. As I've mentioned before, Anodyne can be an acquired taste, for someone who likes the brighter, more acidic coffee.
